A 67k toy. It’s a 3D printer they’re going to use to print parts instead of machine them, when possible.

Generative design all the things!

So I'm assuming this is your new toy

Hey guys this is Austen and this is our new 3D printer

I’m sure there will be some parts made that aren’t strictly for company use.

Oooh, those are fun. I’d opt for SLA though.

Think you can help print a few of these? lol

Imagine all the dildos you print.

Don’t know if we could print clear things.

We call those “Secret Government Projects.”

I’m good. Unless you were insinuating that you wanted one.

wow - that is expensive

Sharing is caring.

I don’t think it’s completely clear. I saw another YouTube video that has a 3D template attached, the printed pieces looks like it’s white.

Wait, are those MarkForged units thag much? Jebus-christmas! I mean they don't have a huge build area and sure, the carbon/fibreglass embedding is a neat trick, but its still basically just an FDM unit... I would have spent that on an SLS unit...
![]() 11/26/2018 at 15:37 |

I think they thought about it, but I guess went this way for some reason.

Is the medium ABS/PLA or something more fancy?
![]() 11/26/2018 at 15:40 |
|
Not sure, think it’s some sort of Nylon.
![]() 11/26/2018 at 15:41 |

If it’s a plastic melter, absolutely you can. I can make those on my Wanhao, actually, since I have a source for clear ABS.
Hopefully what you have isn’t a stupid ‘printer’ but an actual MAM . I don’t care if it says it’s “stronger than other 3D printers using the same material.” It fucking isn’t.
![]() 11/26/2018 at 15:43 |

It’s a newer version of one we already have, that one makes some quality shit.
![]() 11/26/2018 at 15:44 |

Oh shit, it’s a Markfraud?
Fuck that garbage .
I can get a used five-axis for less than that. Nevermind that my $300 Wanhao has similar build volume and precision, without needing bullshit psuedo-propriety plastic.

approve

So does my Wanhao and it was a whole $300 at Microcenter. I’ve got it dialed all the way in to 0.01mm accuracy on finals and it’ll print PBT for interior hardware application.

$67K?? for that price, you could have gotten 3
V6 Mustangs
GTIs!

Was wondering if anyone was going to notice. I put a bird on my cube , and have proceeded to buy my coworkers birds of their own.

My $ 200 (including hot-end upgrade) Anet does a not-half-bad job. I struggle with Nylon and Acetal , but one of these days I’ll actually build a cham ber for it...

The specs on that printer must be intense! I want, nay, I must play with it

I just kind of started upgrading the i3 and the next thing I know it’s like “260 degree temp? Yeah, no problem man.” And I think I have like.. a total of $500 all in. I had a MOSFET in there too, but chucked it, because it really didn’t need it. If I do any further upgrades it’s going to be replacing the control boards completely. That’s all that’s left.
